The brief

Home tutoring runs on trust and coordination: verified teachers, the right match for each child, classes that actually happen, and invoices and payouts that add up at the end of the month.

The platform splits that across a Parent app, a Teacher app — each on iOS and Android — and an operations panel where staff run the business, with a complete audit trail over all of it.

01

Parent apps

Find teachers within budget, follow classes and subject progress, and pay invoices.

02

Teacher apps

Verification, student requests, availability, reschedules, payouts and referrals.

03

Operations panel

Verification, matching, class monitoring, SOS alerts, finance, reports and audit logs.

04

Platform API

Scheduling, billing, payouts and real-time alerts behind all four apps.

The hard parts

What made ithard — and how.

The problems that don't show up in a screenshot, but decide whether a product survives real users.
01

An audit trail over everything

The problem

Staff, teachers and parents all change records. When something goes wrong, the business needs to know who changed what, and when.

The approach

A single hook captures each record before it changes, stores only the fields that changed, and writes a readable message with the actor, role and origin — without slowing the request. An hourly job archives old logs to cold storage once the collection grows, never touching recent history.

02

A month of classes from a weekly rhythm

The problem

Families agree to weekly slots, but billing, attendance and payouts need real dated classes.

The approach

On the first of each month, a scheduled job turns every confirmed weekly slot into dated classes in one batched pass, skipping anything already in the past.

03

Invoices and payslips that reconcile

The problem

Parents are billed per completed class; teachers are paid per student at hourly and half-hour rates, with penalties.

The approach

Monthly jobs build invoices from completed classes with duplicate-billing guards and price teacher payslips line by line. PDFs render in queued workers, and staff release payouts in batches with Excel exports.

04

Live alerts across four apps

The problem

An SOS from a class, a reschedule or a support reply has to reach the right person immediately.

The approach

Real-time channels are split per role and per user, so each app only receives the events meant for it.
